Community Plant Practice

  • Good Medicine Collective 231 York Street Portland, ME, 04102 United States (map)

Join Good Medicine Collective members Tessy Seward and Ginny Gill for a quarterly series designed to deepen our familiarity and relationship with local medicinal plants. Explore the identities and traditional uses of these plants while connecting with them in teas, tinctures and essential oils. Tessy and Ginny will guide movement, meditation and breathwork practices carefully chosen to complement the cylcle of the seasons and the energetics of each plant.

Spring Offering: Tuesday April 8th, 6-8:30 pm Spring Session: Meet NETTLE (Urtica dioica)
One of the first green plants to emerge after winter, the stinging nettle aligns with the energy of lengthening days and the moment of the spring equinox. Nettle is an ages-old healing partner for humans, with evidence of widespread use throughout European and Asian history as well as among the indigenous peoples of the North American continent. Nettle is packed with essential minerals, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic properties, and demonstrates the energetic signature of protection and strong, healthy boundaries.

Join us Tuesday April 8th to learn about Nettle's historical uses and medicinal and energetic properties. We will enjoy a nourishing Nettle tea as we explore the concept of setting and holding healthy boundaries.

Tessy will lead a yoga kriya focused on strenghtening the protective auric field, and Ginny will guide us in a conscious connected breathwork practice to deepen our meeting of this plant ally.
